The Geiger Counter

You mean the Geiger Counter? Give me a break! Gaby goes there and she likes Whitney Houston! There’s another new one, out in West Erinsborough. What does it play? Dunno, but the word is it really pumps*.
Here we are, entering the soap opera arena and first up, it’s antipodean masterpiece Neighbours. And by Neighbours I mean classic, early 90s Neighbours. None of this platform to stardom nonsense. Though having said that, I’ve realised I only really have a problem with one of them. Minogue, Pearce, Imbruglia, Robbie, Goodrem – actually all fine. And in some cases really rather good. I think you know what I’m getting at.
Either way, we’re out for the evening in Erinsborough. We’ve probably sunk a few at The Waterhole but now we’re leaving the Lassiter’s complex and going for it. And I would like to put it on record that if The Geiger Counter *is* bashing out the Whitney Houston hits as Cody Willis states, then I’m definitely in for the long haul.
Design-wise, we’ve got a hybrid of nightclubs. Big, very un-Australian ones in London, Liverpool and Manchester providing the shapes, fonts and colours. I’ve never been to Oz, so I don’t really know how they do it over there. I wanted to somehow include the old skool radiation symbol for obvious reasons but I figured it might be a bit counter productive in terms of getting the punters in. So we’ve got some psychedelic-style circles going on. I feel like I must state this as the owner of a family oriented website: please kids, don’t do drugs. Or if you do, do them at home. Then go out after they kick in. Ahem.
So there we are. Up and running on the old soaps. Which are spectacularly hard to research, I’ve discovered. Neighbours lasted 37 years and showed an episode every weekday. And now they’ve resurrected it, even. There’s just no way of finding all of that on YouTube. Though this did prove to be handy if you’re into it.
*If you’re interested, there’s another nightclub that gets heavy mentions and it’s called The Pump Palace. Whether that makes an appearance here is yet to be seen.
