I’m happy to announce two major new policies. First, we will be granting SIMI Corp permits to implement their NowTek systems throughout the Riph.

SIMI is an organisation that develops surveillance software – notably the NowTek system and the Dex (short for ‘dexterity device’) smart bracelet that every cool kid in school is wearing. The basic name of the game here is stripping the population of their civil liberties and passing it off as ‘protection’. Whether the name ‘SIMI’ was chosen as a parallel to Apple’s useless AI assistant Siri is up to you. Is Siri listening to you have a wank? You bet your arse she / he / it is.

And yes, I did mention a school. Runciter High, to be precise. New kid Foster Lee is a modern day yokel-type, being thrust into an urban environment from one of the seemingly backward rural ‘bubbles’. She seels suitably alienated already, but doubly so because she doesn’t have a Dex. But hey, just get one though, right? Wrong. Her mother is an anti-government*, conspiracy theorist libertarian psychopath, so no dice. But then she gets one anyway. It all spirals out of control and she gets brainwashed by customer support and her mother ends up in jail. It’s much more complicated than that but if I tell you why it kind of ruins the story.

The design, then. the SIMI logo does make an appearance at the end of the programme, but it is very screen based and has animated elements, halos and various opacity changes going on. Obviously for a primary logo, we can’t have that happening. So here’s sort of my reverse-engineering of it back into a static state. For all your physical media needs. As you can see, it’s a full-tilt hexagon workout. Internal engles at 120 degress as standard.

*I’d like to go on record as stating that being anti-goverment is absolutely fine. Let’s just not get too involved with the Fairbrass Brothers if we can help it, hey.
